Gambling law in Nebraska: what to know before you go

Nebraska casinos are new. Voters approved casino gaming at licensed horse racetracks in November 2020, and the first racetrack casinos opened in 2022 and 2023. Today five racinos licensed by the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission operate in Omaha, Lincoln, Columbus, Grand Island and Ogallala, with slots, table games and retail sportsbooks. Several tribes also run smaller casinos in the northeast of the state with bingo-based Class II machines, the largest being the Santee Sioux Nation's Ohiya Casino in Niobrara.

• Regulator: the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission licenses the racetrack casinos and sports betting; tribal casinos are regulated by their tribes and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
• Minimum age: 21 at racetrack casinos and for sports betting; tribal casinos set their own age.
• Casino types: racetrack casinos (racinos) only on the commercial side, plus small tribal casinos with Class II bingo-style machines.
• Sports betting is legal only in person at a licensed racetrack casino. Online sports betting and online casino games are not legal.

How to choose between Nebraska casinos

Nebraska is home to 3 casinos that we track and map, ranking it #35 of 45 states by casino count. They're spread across 3 cities and towns, including Lincoln, Ogallala, Ralston. This page brings every one of the casinos in Nebraska into one place: a map of every location, plus an expandable listing for each venue with its address, published opening hours, phone number, one-tap driving directions and a link to the official site. Locations come from OpenStreetMap and are cross-checked, and we refresh the data weekly so the directory stays current as venues open, close or change their hours.

Casinos in Nebraska range from large resort destinations to smaller local gaming venues. We have published opening hours for 1 of the 3 casinos, and an official-site link for 1 of them. The games on offer, opening hours and minimum ages are set at the state and venue level, so it's always worth confirming the details for any casino you plan to visit using the official-site link in its listing.

Before you visit any casino in Nebraska, it's worth confirming a few things: the minimum age (19 or 21 in Nebraska), what photo ID you'll need at the door, and the opening hours for the day you're going. Larger resort casinos often run 24/7 and add hotels, dining and entertainment, while smaller venues keep set hours and may focus on slots and electronic games. Setting a budget and a time limit before you go keeps the trip fun.
